Text
Official responsible for imperial rituals performed at the kyūchū sanden. The post, which featured three positions of descending rank, was founded in 1871 as part of the Jingishō. Later, it was moved to the Shikiburyō and then became part of the Kunaishō's Shikibushoku. With the postwar separation of religion and state, the position has been held by an official of the inner court. Today, the position is comprised of a head officiant (shōtenchō) and 6 lesser officiants (one of which will become the next head officiant) who administer all imperial ceremonies and rites at the kyūchū sanden.
