Text | Festival of the twentieth-day gathering. Held from April 1 to April 5 at Asama Shrine in Miyagasaki District, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The festival is so named because it was originally held on the twentieth day of the second lunar month. Festival floats (dashi) and portable stages (odori yatai) for dancers and musicians, decorated with ceremonial curtains and paper flowers, are paraded around town. The festival is known for its chigomai performance danced in bugaku style on the shrine's stage (buden). — Mogi Sakae |
