| Text | The annual number and distribution rate of Jingu Taima (Ise amulet) peaked in 1943. Although both figures plummeted immediately after World War II, the number of amulets distributed annually saw a gradual increase after 1947. However, the distribution rate consistently decreased throughout the post-war period. The above two graphs show the number and distribution rate of amulets for the entire country. To be precise, the distribution rate plummeted sharply in some regions, but not in others. A graph of the change of numbers and rates of distribution of the Ise amulets by prefecture appeared in Mure Hitoshi's article entitled "Jinja-kai no tōkei-shiryō shō" ("An extract from statistical source book on Japanese Shinto shrines") in volume 8 of the annual magazine of the Institute of Shinto Research at Kogakukan University. According to the graph, the distribution rate decreased in eastern prefectures with large cities such as Tokyo, Kanagwa, Chiba, and Saitama, but increased in some provincial prefectures such as Hokkaidō, Toyama, Shimane, Tottori and Wakayama.
