Shin'on
Text Divine favor. Boon (onkei). It is a term that includes a natural sense of thanksgiving toward kami. Although there are examples where it is used with reference to specific kami, generally it is used in regard to the various kami in heaven and earth, beginning with kami of generation and reproduction (musuhi) that give birth to, enliven, foster and extend the lives of all things. It refers to the blessing of the power that is the source of life. The archaic term mitama no fuyu has the same meaning. These terms originate from a belief in kami whose power increases, or whose power is received and, subsequently, whose favor is requested.
