Title | Nakayamatsumi |
Text | (Nihongi) "Middle-mountain-body," a kami described in an "alternate writing" recorded by Nihongi as one of the five yamatsumi ("mountain-body kami") produced from the five parts into which the fire kami Kagutsuchi was dismembered by Izanagi. Nakayamatsumi was produced from the middle (trunk) of Kagutsuchi's body. The other four kami produced included Ōyamatsumi (from the head), Hayamatsumi (from the hands), Masakayatsumi (from the loins), and Shigiyamatsumi (from the legs). -Yumiyama Tatsuya |
