Suika Shinto
垂加神道
Text An academic school of Shinto. The word suika, "descent of divine blessing," is taken from the writings of Ise Shintô. Suika Shintô, founded by Yamazaki Ansai (1618-1682), is a combination of the Shinto and Neo-Confucianism of the early Edo period. Suika Shintô emphasized the Nihon shoki as its main scripture, the unity of man and god, and the virtue of propriety (tsutsushimi). It involved the worship of living persons, including Ansai, as gods, and also advocated emperor-worship and patriotism.
